In-Home Lactation Support

Unlike a traditional doula, who focuses mainly on providing emotional and physical support as well as educational resources to expectant parents, a Montrice possesses clinical training that allows her to offer limited medical care during labor. This dual expertise enables us to assist birthing individuals more comprehensively, as we can address both emotional needs and basic medical concerns during the birthing process. A Montrice serves as a bridge between emotional support and medical care, ensuring that the birthing experience is as safe and empowering as possible for those we support. This innovative role is becoming increasingly recognized and appreciated in the birthing community.

Services of a Montrice: Support while in your home awaiting your midwife or departure to the hospital include-B/P monitoring, Fetal Heart checks via Doppler, Vaginal Exams at request and when appropriate, Assessing labor progress, Comfort measures and Partner guidance, Breastfeeding support and Newborn Exam.
